About James Morrissey

Most small businesses don't have a marketing problem. They have a foundation problem.

They're paying too much for agencies that overcomplicate everything, getting too little from freelancers who disappear, or burning time on DIY tools that never deliver. The result is the same: wasted money, no leads, and a digital presence that works against them instead of for them.

I built this advisory practice to fix that.

I help small businesses, contractors, and service providers build the systems that produce results — clear strategy, strong digital presence, and growth infrastructure designed around how real businesses operate. No trends. No fluff. Just disciplined execution tied to measurable outcomes.

Why This Exists

For over a decade, I worked in the pharmacy benefit consulting space advising Fortune 500 companies on benefits strategy. I wanted to use the same skill set — data analysis, competitive strategy, and finding what everyone else misses — to help people I believe in.

It started with a friend. Hawkins Hardwood Flooring needed a website and had no idea where to begin. I built the site, then got obsessed with the question every small business owner asks: how do I get found?

Over the next two years, I learned everything about local market strategy, positioning, and what moves the needle. I took Hawkins from buried on the second page of Google to the number one result in his area.

That's when I knew this was the work I was supposed to be doing.

Direct. No Layers.

The analytical discipline that once uncovered millions in hidden cost exposure for enterprise clients is the same discipline I apply to your market — dissecting competitor positioning, identifying gaps competitors aren't defending, and building strategies based on what the data says.

Every engagement is hands-on, operator-to-operator — no account managers, no handoffs, no layers between you and the person doing the work.

The track record speaks for itself — and a portfolio of businesses that went from invisible online to generating consistent inbound leads.

How I'm Different

Most advisors guess. I analyze.

Before I build anything, I run a thorough competitive analysis of your market — identifying where competitors are strong, where they're exposed, and exactly where the real opportunity lies. This isn't surface-level audit work. It's the same depth of analysis that Fortune 500 companies pay six figures for, applied to your market.

I sit deliberately between expensive agencies and unreliable freelancers. That means you get strategic thinking + structured execution without the overhead, lock-in, or complexity you don't need.

Everything I build, you own.

Every dollar you spend, you can trace to an outcome.

Every recommendation is grounded in data — not what looks good in a pitch deck.

My Philosophy

Strategy without execution is just a good idea. Traffic without conversion is wasted spend. And growth without a solid foundation doesn't compound — it collapses.

I fix what matters first. Then I optimize what drives revenue.

Yes. While I'm based in Rhode Island, I work with service businesses across the United States. Most of my advisory work is done remotely.

Yes. Clients own everything I build — websites, content, systems, and data. There are no proprietary platforms that create dependency. If you decide to move on, you take everything with you.
